TikTok Stitch

Also called Stitch, stitch video

What is a TikTok Stitch?

A TikTok Stitch is a feature that lets you take a short clip of up to five seconds from another person's TikTok and place it at the start of your own video. The original clip plays first, then your response follows. Stitches are used to answer questions, react to claims, add expertise or continue a trend.

Stitch differs from a Duet, which shows your video side by side with the original as it plays. A Stitch plays the clips in sequence, so your video gets the full screen after the borrowed moment.

Creators can turn Stitch off for their own videos, and the stitched video credits and links to the original creator. Instagram and YouTube offer similar remix and reply features.

Why a TikTok Stitch matters

Stitches let a business join conversations already happening on the platform. Answering a popular question or myth in your niche puts your expertise in front of people already interested in the topic.

They are also an easy content idea when you are stuck: find a common customer question in a video and answer it with a Stitch.

How to stitch on TikTok

  1. Find a video with a question or claim relevant to your business.
  2. Tap Share, then Stitch (if the creator allows it).
  3. Trim the clip to the moment you want, up to five seconds.
  4. Record your reply, adding captions and text.
  5. Post with a caption that explains your answer.

TikTok Stitch example

A bike shop stitches a clip of someone asking whether expensive tires are worth it, then a mechanic explains in 30 seconds when they make a difference and when they do not.
