TikTok Duet
Also called Duet, duet video
What is a TikTok Duet?
A TikTok Duet is a feature that places your video next to another creator's video so both play at the same time. It is used for reactions, sing-alongs, side-by-side comparisons, tutorials and collaborations. The original creator is credited and linked, and the audio from their video plays with yours unless you change the mix.
Duets come in several layouts, including side by side, top and bottom, and picture in picture. Unlike a Stitch, which plays a short clip of the original before your video, a Duet keeps both visible for the whole length.
Creators can turn off Duets on their videos. Instagram's Remix feature works in a similar way for Reels.
Why a TikTok Duet matters
Duets put a business next to popular content in its niche, borrowing some of that attention. They suit live reactions, demonstrations and showing a product doing what someone in the original video was struggling with.
They also invite participation. A business can post a video designed to be dueted, such as a challenge or a sing-along, and let customers create the content.
How to duet on TikTok
- Open the video you want to duet and tap Share.
- Choose Duet and pick a layout.
- Record your part while the original plays.
- Adjust volume levels so both can be heard if needed.
- Add captions and post.
