LinkedIn banner size

Also called LinkedIn background photo size, LinkedIn cover photo size

What is the LinkedIn banner size?

LinkedIn banner size is the recommended dimensions for the background image at the top of a LinkedIn profile: 1584×396 pixels, a 4:1 ratio, as JPG or PNG up to 8 MB. Company Pages use a different cover size, 1128×191 pixels. These are LinkedIn's published values as of 2026, and LinkedIn adjusts its layout from time to time.

The profile photo overlaps the lower left of a personal banner, more so on phones, where the banner is also cropped at the sides. Text placed in the right half or center tends to survive both layouts.

For B2B businesses and founders, the banner works like a small billboard: a tagline, the product, a URL or an upcoming event.

Why the LinkedIn banner size matters

A LinkedIn profile is often the first thing a prospect, partner or hire checks. A banner in your brand colors with a clear line about what you do turns empty space into a pitch.

The wrong size gets stretched or cropped through your text, which looks careless on a professional network.

How to make a LinkedIn banner

  1. Design at 1584×396 for a profile, or 1128×191 for a company Page.
  2. Keep the lower left clear for the profile photo.
  3. Place text toward the center or right, in large type.
  4. Stick to one message: what you do, for whom, or one call to action.
  5. Upload and check on both desktop and the phone app.
