What is an AI image generator?
An AI image generator is a tool that creates new images from a written description, called a prompt. Most use a diffusion model trained on millions of captioned images. You describe the subject, style, lighting and composition, and the tool returns one or more pictures in seconds. Images made this way are often called AI art.
Most generators offer more than text to image. Common modes include image to image (restyle or vary a reference picture), inpainting (replace one area), outpainting (extend the canvas) and upscaling. Many also accept a negative prompt or a style reference.
AI image generators are good at photos, textures, scenes and illustration. They have improved at drawing text, but lettering, logos, hands and exact product details can still come out wrong, so many marketers set headlines and logos in a design tool on top of the AI picture.
Why an AI image generator matters
AI images replace a lot of stock photo searching. A business can get a backdrop that matches its brand colors and season, in the right aspect ratio, without a photo shoot.
They need care. A fake-looking product shot or a scene that misrepresents what you sell can damage trust, and some platforms label AI imagery. Use AI for mood and backgrounds, and real photos for the actual product.
How to get good results from an AI image generator
- Describe the subject first, then setting, lighting, camera angle and style.
- Name your brand colors or mood so images fit your feed.
- Ask for the aspect ratio you will post in (1:1, 4:5 or 9:16).
- Leave space for text in the prompt ("empty area on the left") if a headline goes on top.
- Add headlines and logos afterwards as real text, not in the prompt.

Can I use AI-generated images for business?
Most paid plans of major tools allow commercial use, but read the license. Avoid images that copy a recognizable person, artwork or trademark, and check whether your platform asks you to label AI imagery.
Why does AI get text wrong in images?
Image models learn what letters look like, not how to spell, so lettering can come out garbled. Newer models are better, but setting text separately in a design tool is still the reliable option.
